Salary model

Our consultants’ salaries are based on the revenue they bring in. Consultants' salaries comprise 70% of their invoicing; 50.7% of the invoicing is spent directly on the consultant's salary and the remaining 20% on their holiday pay and other employer costs.

The average monthly salary of our consultants is:

  • an average of 158 hours worked per month
  • with an average hourly rate of 92 €/h per project.
  • 158 * 92 * 0.507 = 7369.75 €/month

When looking at this example, it should be noted that the number of working days varies from month to month. In addition, hourly rates vary from project to project. The weekly working time at Mavericks is 37.5 hours and the normal working day of a consultant does not include overtime or on-call work. This helps to support work-life balance and the well-being of consultants.

Our projects usually last about a year. If the consultant does not have a new project lined up immediately after the old one is finished, the minimum salary of 3000€/month will protect them.

Our salary model is the same for everyone. It's not based on gender, where you live, loudest voice, friendships or anything else that's irrelevant to the job.

Freedom

Our consultants are free to work where they want, how they want and when they want, as long as the client work is done as agreed. If the situation allows, temporary work, for example from a summer cottage or abroad, is usually easy to arrange. Annual leave and extra leave are managed according to the same principle.

Thanks to the hourly pay model, we don't have a timeshare - when you're paid for the work you do, you have the freedom to do less if you want. With 80% allocation at Mavericks, you earn what you would typically earn in a full-time job in the industry.

Responsibility

Mavericks consultants are experienced professionals who take responsibility for their own work on client projects. With their professional skills, our consultants build a mutual relationship of trust, within which they work on a daily basis. Our consultants work at the client's premises if required, but on-site work is not a value in itself these days. The working model (onsite, hybrid, full remote) is agreed upon by project. If problems arise in a client's project, the Mavericks back office team will support the consultants to find a solution.

Benefits

In addition to the fairest salary on the market, Mavericks offers the following benefits:

  • Choose your work equipment (laptop, phone and anything typically attached to them)
  • Lunch allowance as part of salary
  • Phone benefit
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work from different locations
  • Comfortable and modern premises + snacks at the office (Helsinki, Turku)
  • Occupational health care and comprehensive health and accident insurance covering special care, medical operations and medicines
  • Child care service for sick children
  • Joint events in which participation is voluntary
  • Opportunity to participate in the development of a growth company

Bench time

Sometimes it can happen that the consultant does not work on a project, which means that there is so-called "downtime" between projects. In this case, it is possible to take a little respite or even study something new. It is also possible to participate in the development of the company or our systems. For this kind of mutually agreed work, an in-house commission is paid, aiming at an earnings level of 5500€/month. So there's no need to sit around the office looking important. The most important thing is to be available for sales for a new project.

Bonuses

Of course, we also reward people for growing the business and helping others. If you bring information to our sales team - e.g. about a current project or something else - that leads to new deals, you are entitled to a sales bonus of 4% per month of the turnover you enable. Typically, the amount is around 400-600€/month, and is paid for as long as the project lasts, up to a maximum of 12 months.

Our recruitment bonus works in the same way as our sales bonus. If you know some good people who might be excited about Mavericks, talk to them and tip off our recruitment team - you'll get the same 4% monthly bonus on the new consultant's turnover for one year.

Our recruitment and sales bonuses are designed to create a model where together we can help each other in a way that benefits everyone!

Projects

Mavericks sells talent for clients' own projects. A typical client understands what they want to achieve with their digital services, but needs resources. A typical project team includes both the client's own employees and consultants from several different consultancies. On average, an assignment lasts about a year and is full-time - so you can dedicate all your working time to a client project.

Our clients are both private and public companies, located in Finland and increasingly abroad. In addition to our own direct client relationships, we often supplement the expertise needs of larger consultancies with their clients. Here you can see some of the businesses we have helped.

Our sales team continuously screens the market and together with our consultants, select the assignments that interest them and work together to promote them. Typically, the client wants to choose their consultant by interviewing suitable candidates. This is also an opportunity for the candidate to find out more about the project. If both client and candidate are happy, roll up your sleeves and get to work.

We are currently picking up around 100 project opportunities a month from the market. Project opportunities are open for all to see on our internal Slack channel.

“With Mavericks I was fascinated by many things, including salary, minimal bureaucracy, interesting projects and the opportunity to make a difference.”

Culture

At Mavericks, the back office team handles sales, recruitment and practical matters, allowing consultants to focus on client work. We do not organize mandatory internal meetings or events where participation would be outside the scope of client work.

For those looking for a sense of community and togetherness, we organize monthly brunches, summer and Christmas parties, hackathons, beer brewing, local and remote after-parties, joint sports sessions, and various business development sessions.

We have very cozy offices in Helsinki and Turku, with both working and socializing space for everyone who needs it. Even though we are not a “ball pit company”, we do have all the typical software company’s amenities, including snacks in the office.

Transparency and simplicity are at the heart of our company values – they are very important to us. We communicate openly about company matters and involve all interested parties in discussions and decision-making. We are building Mavericks for our consultants, so all opinions are important.

Community support and skills development

If you want to develop your skills and obtain a certificate, for example, Mavericks will gladly pay for the training! However, as the salary model is largely based on hourly rates, the time required for training must be taken from free time.

All our consultants are experienced talents. Mavericks now has a network of almost 100 top professionals who can help with any problem!

Holidays and sick leaves

Our consultants accrue annual leave in exactly the same way as other employees. Holiday pay is based on commission-based earnings in the year of the holiday: if you have earned an average salary of 7000€/month, your holiday pay is also 7000€ plus 50% holiday pay.

In the event of sickness, the sick pay is paid at the average hourly rate of commission for the previous 6 months. This means that occasional illnesses have virtually no impact on earnings. Of course, we don't want to encourage people to work half fit.
